Pizza, Hold the Cheese.

So, in April, I decided to take a one-month vegan pledge. Why?

Why not?

I was curious, after putting in three relatively easy (and totally successful) months of cleaning eating, how I would feel if I cut out dairy, meat and other animal products. It wasn’t my grand idea though. I’m easily influenced. My super awesome friend Kacia made it look delicious and easy, so I tried it with her.

Anyway.

I decided to make it a one-month experiment. And I liked it. I tried SO

Weighing In: Sometimes Quitters Do Win

This will probably be my last “Weighing In” post, and I’m absolutely THRILLED about it.

Explanation, briefly: For 15 years of my life, I struggling with disordered eating patterns — everything from binge eating to anorexia to bulimia. My weight’s been up and down (size 2 to a 22, no lie), and I spent years in counseling, and eventually, I was finally able to have a normal relationship with food and a normal body image. I embraced my pregnancy and all the lumps and bumps that went with it, even

Weighing In: why PNC is responsible for my muffintop

Halloween candy is pure evil. Halloween candy + cold, dreary weather is the devil. Halloween candy + cold, dreary weather + party food is the apocalypse.

I gained three pounds and a brand new muffintop last week. To celebrate, I ate 2 “fun-sized” 100 grand bars. For breakfast.

I’ve been deliberating on whether or not to cancel my Y membership. Lord knows I haven’t been over there since stinkin’ PNC and the dang-blamed lawyers in my building started their wicked plan to take over the entire block with their staged

Weighing In: Are You Up for a Challenge?

I’m not going to pretend that I know how this happened:

The reality is, if I keep doing what I’ve been doing, my body will start revolting at any time. This, my friends, is purely accidental loss. And I’m tired of accidental anything. It’s time to start being intentional again. To start making decisions and changes.

Last week I asked if anyone was up for some accountability and a number of you responded. So how about we start with some mini challenges?

You in? Good.

Okay,

Weighing In: I Haven’t Seen a Veggie in WAY Too Long

20 points is crazy hard.

It goes really, really fast. If you’re not careful, it can be gone at one meal before the main course shows up.

Not that I’d know that from experience.

But it’s really not easy at all. And I have to be honest, I’m not exactly doing all the right things to help my cause. We’ve been so busy lately and I’ve been so enamored with my hubs’ eating habits, that all of our meals have basically consisted of bread, cheese and meat. And

Weighing In :: Invaluable Resources + The World’s Biggest Bowl of Oatmeal

The scale went down this week and it’s a dag-blamed miracle. Between the weather changing and work and life stresses, I have not been a fine example of well-balanced eating. But be ye not discouraged, for every day is a new start, every meal a chance to make better choices.

So I’ll keep trying.

In the meantime, I want to introduce you to a couple of super awesome and extremely popular sites. You very well may already know all about them, but guess what.

Weighing In: Time for Reevaluation

Over the past couple of weeks, some things have happened that I haven’t been blogging about. Big things. Well, I suppose not earth-shattering sorts of things, but certainly diet-altering.

First, I decided to get honest with myself. While my baby girl still nurses a couple of times a day, it’s just not enough to justify the extra 5 “supplemental nursing” points I was getting with Weight Watchers. God bless them for having them.

No seriously, God. Bless. Them.

But I found that the scale really wasn’t budging, despite

Review + Giveaway :: Eat! Move! Play!

Because Weight Watchers is awesome and because I am one lucky mama, the kind folks at the WW office sent me over one of their newest books, called Eat! Move! Play! I’ve spent the past few weeks reading through the book (I’m a slow reader and only find five minutes at a time to absorb any printed word), and have found it to be chock full of great tips for motivating your kiddos to stay active and eat healthy, as well as for

Weighing In: I Owe You $3.20

If Weight Watchers donates $1 for every pound lost during Lose For Good®, then I’m already in the red. I’m up 3.2 pounds from last week’s weigh-in. Uh-oh.

Guess that family fun food tour of The Strip over the weekend caught up with me. I don’t know why. All I had was two teeny tiny little donuts. And a pepperoni roll. And a tiny little almond-filled Italian pastry (if by tiny you mean roughly
