Literally.
We’re on vacation this week, visiting my parents and my mom thought maybe we could try the iToddler in a big girl bed. Even though she’s fine in a crib at home, she’s just too big for the pack-n-play she usually sleeps in here.
Getting her into the bed wasn’t too traumatic, and she slept for about 7 hours with no problem. By 3, she was up and in my bed with Sean and me.
Problem was, there’s not really room for three of us, so around 4, I convinced her to go back to her toddler bed.
With her 5 1/2 month preggers mama.
Any advice from the masses on how to have a smooth(er) transition? We’re pretty clueless…
And sore.

Um, we had to lock them in. So much for “smooth” transition.
Will she fall asleep with you and stay asleep if you move her? We did that with one of the crew. The other one I put the pack n-play up and said if he got out of bed he would have to sleep in the crib only had to put him in there once. The last bug was a nightly routine of walking her back to bed every time she got out. If she stayed in bed we got stickers in the morning (in your case sugar maybe? haha) Lastly with all 3 we have a pillow and a blanket on the floor in our room they are welcome to come up and sleep there.. After a few nights of that they soon found their bed was better. All 3 of them went through a separation stage just as they were getting the big kid bed, just needed to know mom and dad were still there and close. Good luck!
Would love to give sage advice, but alas I’m the mom of four who can’t get her 8, 7, 5, and 4-year old children to sleep through the night in their own beds with any sort of regularity. Half the time I don’t even realize that one has snuck into bed with me because I’m so tired. Then another child tries to find a space to crawl into. My 8-year old has taken to the “if the bed is full, lie on the floor” approach, but 2 days ago, I stepped on him when I didn’t realize he was there. Oh well. That’ll learn him . . . maybe. Don’t think it helps that our master bedroom is on a different floor than the kids rooms. Good luck!
